Text Fields: How to Edit Text Options Explained
There are several text product fields you can bulk edit using the Ablestar Bulk Product Editor. The dropdown values have several options that will help you further customize your bulk configurations.
'How to Edit' Field Options
Text example to demonstrate the following configurations:
- Set text to value: Overrides the existing text with a new value. All existing text will be replaced.
- Add text to end: Adds text, spaces, HTML code or punctuation to the end of the existing description. All existing text will stay intact.
- Remove text from end: Removes text, spaces, HTML code or punctuation from the end of the description (considering case syntax). For example, if the last characters are "description END." and you specify to remove only "END" without punctuation, nothing will change because the last character of the description field is the period, so the period has to be removed first. You must specify "description END." with punctuation, spaces and case syntax included to remove correctly.
- Add text to beginning: Adds text, spaces, HTML code or punctuation to the beginning of the existing description.
- Remove text from beginning: Removes text, spaces, HTML code or punctuation from the beginning of the description (considering case syntax). For example, if the first sentence is "START this" and you specify to remove only "start" without case syntax, nothing will change because the case doesn't match. You must specify "START this" with punctuation, spaces and case syntax included, to remove correctly.
- Search/replace: Replaces any specified text, spaces, HTML code or punctuation (considering case syntax). If case syntax doesn't match exactly, nothing will be updated.
- Limit length of text: Limits the number of characters displayed with options to display an ellipsis (...) and minimize text trim in the middle of the word.
- Remove text from a word to the end: Removes text, spaces, HTML code or punctuation that is present after (and including) the text specified. If you specify to remove everything after "END." it will remove "END." plus any additional characters following. (Note: This method will also close any open HTML tags)
- Remove text up to and including a word: Removes text, spaces, HTML code or punctuation that is present before (and including) the text specified. If you specify to remove everything before "START" it will remove "START" plus any additional characters proceeding the text. (Note: This method will also close any open HTML tags)
