Single Line Text Metafields

You can use Ablestar Bulk Product Editor to modify Single line text metafields in bulk.

Single line text metafields support plain text with no formatting or line breaks. They can be used for adding additional attributes or short notes to products.

Choose if you prefer the 'In-App Edit' or 'Spreadsheet' method:

1. In-App Edits

Along with the several 'How to Edit' options available for text fields, this feature also has the ability to delete and remove from Shopify:

Using Dynamic Fields

Optionally, you can click the 'Add dynamic value' option to pull in a placeholder or other data from your store, instead of manually inputting a term.

This is especially useful if you prefer the system to pull data or a placeholder from another text field already specified in your database for these scenarios:

• You can set a metafield to pull in "[Product title] + [Vendor]"
• You can extract a value from a tag, so the metafield would be set to 'red' from the tag 'color=red'

2. Spreadsheet Edits

For a spreadsheet edit, the app will do the following with the cell values when you are updating text metafields:

• If the value in the cell is [DELETE] the metafield will be deleted on Shopify
• If there is other text in the cell, the metafield will be set to that value
• If the cell is empty, the row will be skipped

✅ Tips and Troubleshooting

• Shopify does not allow metafields to have a blank value. If you try to set a metafield to a blank value it will be deleted (but you still have the option to undo the edit).
• If you have made changes to metafields outside of the app it is a good idea to manually re-sync the metafield data from the Ablestar Bulk Editor menu: Settings > Shopify data.
