How to Edit the Cost Field

You can use Ablestar Bulk Product Editor to modify cost fields in bulk. The cost field will allow you to track the cost of goods sold.

Choose if you prefer the 'In-App Edit' or 'Spreadsheet' method:

From the 'Configure modifications' view, there are several 'How to edit' options available to bulk edit your cost, either by percentages, fixed amounts or based on other fields:

The 'Rounding' dropdown gives you several ways to round your cost. Read more detail on the specific rounding options.

2. Spreadsheet Edits

For this spreadsheet edit we are working with variants, so you will need to variant-level identifier such as Variant ID or SKU in the first column and the action items in the 2nd and subsequent columns, similar to:

  • An identifier column (SKU or Variant ID)
  • An action column that contains the text to be modified

You can find the Variant ID for any product by exporting a copy of your store data and looking for the 'Variant ID' column in the spreadsheet.

The app will use the following rules to update a price from a given cell in a spreadsheet:

  • Text around the numbers, like currency names or symbols, are removed
  • The comma is treated as a thousands separator
  • The period is interpreted as the decimal separator
  • Spreadsheet values are case-insensitive
  • Leading/trailing spaces will be removed during processing
