How to Adjust SEO Visibility on Products
Ablestar Bulk Product Editor allows you bulk edit your product SEO visibility, so you can hide product visibility from search engine robots and crawling.
This could be useful if you have free gifts or other promotional items that you would like to hide from Google.
Update Status
Shopify recently provided the option to update your product status as 'Hidden' from robots and search engines. Learn more here
Note: Once updated as hidden or visible, the following values translate are stored in Shopify as the seo.hidden metafield:
- Hidden = Shopify admin represented as 1, which indicates the product is hidden
- Visible = Shopify admin represented as a value of zero (or blank) which indicates the product is visible
💡 You do not need a metafield definition in order to use the hiding function but it may help if you want to see the values represented on the Shopify admin side.

If you choose not to update visibility by the status option, you can continue editing SEO settings:
Filter and Search
You have the option to search and filter all products that are visible (or hidden) from SEO bots.
From the product view:
- Click the Add Filter + button
- Find and input "SEO" from the dropdown list
- Choose "Yes" or "No" from the dropdown
- Click the Edit products button to continue:
Bulk Edit
From the 'Configure modifications' view, determine your search criteria:
- Field to edit: Search Engine Visibility (SEO)
- Radio button: Visible / Not visible on Search Engines
Preview your changes to confirm and then click the Run edit button when ready to process. Click the Undo button if you need to start over and learn how to find a History of bulk edits.
