Editing Unit Prices

Ablestar Bulk Product Editor allows you to bulk edit the Unit price for stores that are located in the EU or Switzerland. Before Summer of 2025, Unit pricing was only available to merchants selling in the European Union (EU) and in Switzerland.

If you are selling products in the EU or Switzerland, but your business is based elsewhere, you can contact Shopify Support to request this feature to be activated.

Choose if you prefer the In-App or Spreadsheet method to get started with your bulk edit: 

1. In-App Edit:

Once you have filtered your set of products, from the 'Configure modifications' view update the following fields:

• Field to edit: Search and select ‘Unit price’
• Total Measure: Specify the total measurement quantity for the item being shipped. Select the unit of measurement from the picklist.
• Base Measure: Choose the base quantity to calculate against (typically a quantity of 1 in most cases). Select the unit of measurement from the picklist.

Confirm the list of products on the preview panel, click to edit filters if needed, and then click to Run edit to process changes.

💡Note: the initial edit of Unit prices will not have a preview of edits available, however subsequent edits will show the old and new value going forward.

2. Spreadsheet Edits

Export your data

You can export Unit Prices to prepare for bulk editing by spreadsheet. Once you have your data filtered from the Product view, click the Export button and configure the fields from the 'Export data' view:

Each cell holds the full unit price measurement as a small JSON value with the quantity, quantity unit, reference value and reference unit. Variants without a unit price will export as a blank cell:

Upload your data

Once your data is prepped on the spreadsheet, go back to the app dashboard, click the Edit with a spreadsheet button or the sidebar 'Spreadsheet edit' navigation menu.

For this spreadsheet edit, the first column should list the variant-level identifier and then subsequent columns would contain the Unit Price, with the specific JSON format similar to:

1. Choose the Drag and drop button to upload your file 
2. Select the file to upload and a mapping view will appear
3. Confirm mapped fields are correct
4. Click 'Advanced settings' to change the identifier column if needed:

During your very first upload of new data, a preview of changes will not appear since there are no current values in the database. Subsequent and future bulk updates will display the previews to you before you make changes.
