Editing Variants
You can use Ablestar Bulk Product Editor to modify or add new product variants in bulk. Choose if you prefer the 'In-App Edit' or 'Spreadsheet' method:
1. In-App Edits
You can add, modify or delete variants in bulk:
◼️ Add Variants
- Click in the 'Field to edit' option and search and insert 'Add Variants'
- If requirements are met (and option names are matching), click the 'Add variant' button to proceed
Requirements
To prevent errors, the app will only allow you to add variants to a set of products if they have identical matching option names. For example, you can not add variants to two products at the same time if they have differing option names:
- Product A
- Option 1 name: Size
- Option 2 name: Color
- Product B
- Option 1 name: Color
- Option 2 name: Size
Once the 'Options' popup window appears, you can configure the variant(s) to add. If you want to add multiple option values at once, you can separate them with a comma.
For example, in this screenshot the app will add variants separated by a comma for the sizes 10,11,12:
Click the Add variant button to apply options and close the popup window.
Preview the products and variants that will change and once confirmed, click the Run edit button to start processing.
◼️ Modifying Variants
From the 'Configure modifications' view, click in the 'Field to edit' option and choose the Variant option that fits:
- Add Variants
- Sort Variants
- Variant Subtitle
- Typing in any Variant name allows you to bulk edit specific variants
For a full list of variants on your store, modify this URL with your specific store name formatted as
https://[store-name].myshopify.com/admin/variants.json

2. Spreadsheet Edits
Variants can be added to your spreadsheet and uploaded through the bulk editor > 'create products' menu option.
✅ Tips and Troubleshooting
- To match option names on products, use the In-App edit for the 'Option 1 name' field to edit them in bulk to the same value.
