How To Bulk Edit Product or Variant Weight

Ablestar Bulk Product Editor allows you to bulk edit the weight of your Shopify products.

Filtering Products by Weight

In Shopify, your products can be specified with a variety of measurements:

We have specific weights filters to help you isolate products by weight:

Weight: Uses the raw value of the weight as specified, without conversion. "Greater than 2" will pull up literal weights as specified so you could get a mix of all units of measurement.
Weight in grams: Filters and returns any unit of measurement to grams so you are able to compare unit to unit. Filtering as "Greater than 500 grams" will pull all existing products and measurements as grams, even if they aren't specified in grams.
Weight in unit: Filters all products that match the exact unit of measurement specified. You can filter out all products measured as kilos or other products measured in ounces.

Once you have a filtered product set, from the 'Configure modifications' view update the following fields:

Field to edit: input "weight" to search and choose 'Weight (in product's unit) from the suggested list
How to edit: there are several number options to choose from. Most commonly used are "Set to fixed value" or "Set to null/blank"

Confirm the preview list of products match the criteria and click Run edits to apply and process the changes.

You also have the option to change the weight in specific variants.

Once you have a filtered product set, from the 'Configure modifications' view, update the following fields:

Field to edit: input "weight" to search and choose 'Weight unit' from the suggested list
Variant Weight Unit: choose any of these options:
- Store default (lb)
- Pounds (lb)
- Ounces (oz)
- Kilograms (kg)
- Grams (g)
Confirm the preview list of products match the criteria and click Run edits to apply and process the changes.

Some users need to set the weight in grams regardless of the weight unit set for each product.

Once you have a filtered product set, from the 'Configure modifications' view update the following fields:

Field to edit: input "weight" to search and choose 'Weight (in grams)'
How to edit: choose 'Set to fixed value' for this example
Set weight (in grams) to this value: enter the desired weight in grams. For instance, if you input 1000, and the product's weight unit is currently set pounds, it will be converted to approximately 2.2 pounds since 1000 grams equals approximately 2.2 pounds.
Confirm the preview list of products that match the criteria and click Run edits to apply and process the changes.

You can undo your changes immediately after processing by clicking the Undo button
Shopify recognizes weight units in kilograms (kg), grams (g), ounces (oz), or pounds (lb)
