How to Re-import Orders from WooCommerce
Ablestar WooCommerce Importer allows you to re-import orders from WooCommerce to Shopify, even after the initial migration.
Many users import orders and migrate everything initially and then update content further, which may take some time.
Before you go live, you can re-import any new orders or customers before launching, without extra fees.
Notes about Re-Importing orders
There are a few things to keep in mind when you re-import orders.
Re-Importing Orders is Free
If you've already paid once to import orders, it's free to re-import them.
Different WooCommerce API Credentials
If you have changed or disabled your Consumer Secret or Consumer Key that you used to connect to WooCommerce, an error will appear when you try to re-import the orders.
To fix this:
- Click on Advanced at the top of the Ablestar WooCommerce Importer app
- Enter in the new API credentials.
If the URL to your WooCommerce site has changed, send us an email, and we can update the URL for you.
Existing Orders are Replaced
Re-importing orders will not create duplicates but will replace existing orders imported from WooCommerce. The order number that you see in the admin (for example, #101) will be the same after the import, but behind the scenes, the re-import will:
- Delete the existing order
- Create a new order in its place
We do this so that all order attributes will update correctly.
Verify Order Notifications are Disabled
As with the initial order import, verify that order notifications are disabled before re-importing the orders.
Re-Importing Orders
To re-import orders open up the Ablestar WooCommerce Importer app. You should see a page where you can manage your import:
- Scroll down the page until the Orders section.
- Select Import orders and corresponding customers
- Click Import Customers/ Orders:
The app will now download all orders from your WooCommerce site and upload them to Shopify. It will replace existing orders, so there are no duplicates:
Once this process is finished, you can find your imported orders under the Orders section of the Shopify admin:
