Importing Dropbox Image URLs for Shopify Products

It is currently not possible to import Dropbox image URLs into Shopify using the Shopify admin product import tool. If you try to use a Dropbox image URL you will receive an error that looks like one of the following:

• Validation failed: Image https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/xxxx/image.jpg?dl=0 failed to download.
• [nethttp_dl.dropboxusercontent.com_443] Semian::OpenCircuitError caused by wrong status line: "\x1F\x8B\b\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x03\x03\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00HTTP/1.1 200 OK"
• Media processing failed

You can verify this by trying to use the Add from URL button to add an image to a product in the Shopify admin. If you enter a Dropbox image URL you will receive the following error:

How to import Dropbox Product Image URLs into Shopify

You can use Ablestar Bulk Product Editor to import Dropbox Image URLs directly into Shopify. The app will download the images from Dropbox and send them to Shopify in way that Shopify will accept. This means that you can use Dropbox image URLs when:

• Creating products from a spreadsheet
• Editing products with a spreadsheet
• Adding image(s) to a lot of products with an in-app edit
