Create Recurring Product Rule Automations

You can use Ablestar Bulk Product Editor to create a custom Product Rule. In this example, we will create a Product Rule to hide all out of stock products on creation.

This feature is available on the Advanced and Professional plans.

From the dashboard view, select 'Automations' and then Product rules:

From the 'Product Rules' view you can select either Choose a Template or Create Rule options. Both will lead you to the same configuration choices:

Option 1: Choose a Template:

From the 'Product rules' view, click the View Templates button and choose any template. In this example, we will work with the 'Hide out of stock products' option and click the Use template button.

Once the 'Create' view appears, choose the Title and Modification options.

Option 2: Create New Rule:

From the 'Product rules' view, click the Create rule button. Once the 'Create' view appears, choose the Title and Modification options.

Product Modifications

Once you are on the 'Create' view for either templates or new rules, fill fields as needed:

  • Title: specify any descriptive title
  • Status: select 'active' in this example. 'Paused' could be used to pause the same rule in future cases.
  • Run Rule:
    • When a product is created: ensures the rule only runs one time on the initial creation
    • When a product is updated or created: ensures the rule runs on every product edit or update

To avoid multiple unexpected changes every time you edit a product, choose 'Run rule: When a product is created'

Add Modifications

You must add at least one modification before saving the rule. Click the Add modification button to add additional rules. Add additional modifications as needed:

Optional: Negative Modifications

You also have the option to apply negative rules, to ensure products that include inventory always are marked 'Active':
