Viewing the Inventory Level History for a Product

The Bulk Product Editor stores all changes to the inventory levels of your products from Shopify. You can use the app to view a list of historical changes or to download them as a CSV file. In this article we'll describe how we capture the data and how to view it.

How Historical Inventory Levels are Stored

Each time a product's inventory levels are updated on Shopify, Shopify sends a message (webhook) to our servers with the new inventory level. This typically happens within one second of the update on Shopify. Our app will save each update we receive so you can go back and see the historical inventory levels.

There's a few things to keep in mind:

  • We can only receive this data from Shopify when the app is installed. If you've just installed the Bulk Product Editor, you won't be able to view inventory history from before.
  • If you are on the free plan we stop receiving updates from Shopify for your store after you've been inactive for 10 days. This may the app to miss some inventory level updates during an inactive period.
